How we can help

At PAWS Newcastle, we will walk alongside you through every stage of your pet’s final chapter. From thoughtful quality-of-life guidance to gentle in-home euthanasia and compassionate aftercare support. Our services are designed to bring clarity, comfort and dignity.

We proudly provide compassionate at-home pet euthanasia services throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, the Hunter Valley and Port Stephens. Wherever you call home, we’ll come to you which relieves all chances of anxiety and stress.

How to Book an Appointment.

We understand this is a difficult time, and we are here to support you and your pet every step of the way:

Submit an online booking request via our contact form and select a time that feels right for you, we will do our best to accommodate it.

Once your appointment is requested, you will be sent a confirmation email and we will then reach out to you to discuss details.

Quality of Life Consultations

If you are unsure whether it is the right time to say goodbye to your best friend, we are here to guide you through this difficult decision. Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is never easy, and it is normal to feel uncertain about the “right time.” Our consultation offers clarity so you can move forward with confidence, knowing you are making the most loving decision for your furry friend.

In-Home Quality of Life Consultation

During the visit, your veterinarian will:

Take time to connect with your pet in their own environment.
Listen to your concerns and feelings, giving you space to share what changes you have noticed and how your pet’s daily life has been affected.
Gently examine your pet to look for signs of pain, discomfort, or decline in mobility and health.
Use a quality of life scale as a guide to help determine the balance between your pet’s good days and their struggles.
Offer guidance helping you understand your options, whether that is continued care, palliative support, or considering a peaceful goodbye.

This visit is about walking alongside you, giving you the support and information you need to feel at peace with the right path for your furry friend.

Telehealth Quality of Life Consultation

Sometimes the first step in deciding what is best for your pet is simply having a caring conversation.

During the consultation, your veterinarian will:

Listen with compassion as you share your worries, observations, and questions.
Guide you through what to look for in your pet’s daily life.
Help you use a quality of life scale to gently explore how your pet is coping and what their good and difficult days look like.
Provide recommendations, whether that may be adjusting current care, arranging a home visit for further support, or discussing when it may be time to consider a peaceful goodbye.

This conversation is about more than medical advice, it is about feeling heard, supported, and reassured.

Home Euthanasia

When the time comes, we offer euthanasia in the comfort of your pet’s home. Choosing home euthanasia allows your beloved companion to pass comfortably in a familiar environment, surrounded by the people and things they love most.

During a home euthanasia visit, your veterinarian will:

Create a calm and gentle space so your pet feels safe and unhurried.
Explain each step of the process in as much or as little detail as you would like.
Sedation is optional & available at no extra cost, ensuring your pet is relaxed, comfortable, and free of stress.
Support you throughout, whether you would like to be close by, hold your pet, or simply sit together quietly.

You will be given as much time as you need before, during, and after the procedure to say your goodbyes. Home euthanasia allows your pet to pass with dignity, and gives you the reassurance that their final moments were surrounded by love.

Aftercare Arrangements

We work closely with a number of partnered cremation centres, including locally trusted providers such as Furry Friends Farewells and Patch & Purr, to ensure respectful aftercare. Families may choose from private cremation (with ashes returned) or general cremation (without ashes returned). If you prefer a home burial or wish to arrange your own cremation, we can leave your pet in your care following the appointment.

Additional costs are set by the cremation centres and may vary depending on your pet’s weight, aftercare option, and any keepsakes you select.
